Let’s take a fire walk: A postmortem of a Gigantic proportions
Starting a new independent studio and working on a brand new IP can be a daunting challenge. I will be talking about how Motiga started building the team to make Gigantic. What were some of the wins and missteps during the development process and how the team survived through the most challenging situation for any studio. The talk will be a mix of development and business aspect of challenges faced by a studio striving to bring a unique IP to the market.

Chris is the founder of VOX Gamer, a consulting agency focused on helping developers bring their game to the global market. Prior to founding VOX Gamer, Chris was the founder and CEO of Motiga, the studio behind competitive action game Gigantic which shipped on PC and XBOX ONE. As a life-long gamer, Chris got his lucky break in the industry as the business manager for ArenaNet in late 2002. After helping the studio ship Guild Wars, Chris got kicked around in the corporate and eventually became the CEO of NCsoft West, ArenaNet’s parent company. He also had a brief stint as Chief Strategy officer at Trion Worlds before founding his own studio, Motiga. Besides helping his clients, Chris also sits on a couple of studio boards to mentor and advise development teams around the world
